We’ve had a number of awards for the beer recently:
At IndieBeer Scotland in September 23 we gained Bronze for Cask Eas Geal and for Cask Gobhar Reamhar. We also got a Bronze in the smallpack competition for the Fion and Eorna. Best result, though, was Gold and Best in Category for the Bainne nan Gobhar Milk stout.
That Gold took us forward to BeerX in Liverpool in March 24 - and we won again, gaining top 3 placing in the British Dark Beer category for the Bainne!
We got a very positive write up from the Press and Journal in February - take a look at the story here -> Highland brewery owners cheers to building business from ground up (pressandjournal.co.uk)
Heid brewer, Fergus, about to enjoy a pint of Ardgour’s finest
Our Story
The new-build brewery sits in the grounds of the old manse in the beautiful village of Ardgour (Àird Ghobhar - the height of the goat) on the edge of the remote Morvern and Ardnamurchan peninsulas.
Below, you can learn a bit about how we got to where we are
Good things take a while…
When Fergus and Lizzy Stokes bought the crumbling Manse in 2012 it was with a view to starting a business that would bring great beer to Scotland’s wild west.
Renovating the house and self-building the brewery have taken some time. From excavating a site and installing drainage to 3 phase electrics, plumbing to insulation and epoxy floors, this has been a big project. In 2019 a 5 Brewers Barrel brewery arrived on a self drive lorry and by the following Autumn test brewing was underway for an initial range of cask and bottled ales based around the goats (na gobhair) of Ardgour (Àird Ghobhar)
